Two Day Workshop led by Lisa Chandler

NZ $350pp

1 spot left – be quick – or check out my Acrylic Painting workshop beginning of May

This workshop is aimed at intermediate painters (or confident beginners with an experimental approach), and is designed to extend your existing land/sea/city-scapes painting practice using Acrylics.

Under the guidance of professional artist Lisa Chandler you will learn fresh ways of interpreting what you see, and new ideas to tap into something more meaningful using your own subject matter. Lisa will help you to consider how the elements of painting, such as colour, composition, mark-making, layering etc, relate to your subject and how you can use them to make your work more evocative, expressive and unique expressions that stand out from the crowd.

During the workshop you will also learn:

  • How to communicate your ideas/emotions through paint – what are you trying to get out of your work? What are you trying to communicate through your work?
  • The tools of mind mapping and mood boards
  • The benefits of working in a series and learn ways to explore, investigate and address your ideas in an increasingly deeper and more expressive way
  • Examine how to balance the intentionality and consistency of your ideas, with creative exploration and unexpected happenings during the painting process

Since starting painting in 2005, Lisa has worked with both land and seascapes, and since completing her MFA in 2012 she has been concentrating on urban-scapes and the people that inhabit them. She works between realism and abstraction, and the material of paint to create unique impressions of contemporary life. You can view Lisa’s work here:

By the end of the weekend you will have plenty of tips and ideas, a series of small studies for further development back in your studio, and a painting well underway.
