Minimum 4 – Maximum 8 people

Treat yourself to 2 days of inspiring creativity with this jam packed Mixed Media weekend workshop. On Saturday we will explore 3 key elements – the use of Acrylic Mediums, the ‘how-to’ of Mono-printing and the basics of collage – these elements can all be combined to create exciting Mixed Media works. After a group discussion on Sunday morning, participants will select their favourite techniques and work towards creating a finished artwork.

Today there is a bewildering range of Acrylic Mediums available – this workshop will introduce you to Glazing Medium, Soft Gel Medium, Heavy Gel Medium, and a variety of textured mediums. Knowing the properties of each medium, how and when to use them successfully can really enhance your work.

Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has lines or images that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, which allows for multiple originals. There are many different techniques of mono-printing, and this workshop will focus on using low-tech Gelli Plates. Monoprinting is a great way to create interesting textures and patterns for collage work.

The process of collage – cutting things up and putting them together in new ways emerged in the early 1900s out of the Cubist movement when Picasso and Braque began pasting ephemera into their paintings. Today collage is an exciting form of contemporary art. We will discuss some examples and cover the basic techniques and materials.

As part of the workshop fee you get a 5 x 7 inch Gelli plate to use and take home to continue your printmaking journey.
